From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes a collection of steamy, STEMinist novellas featuring a trio of engineers and their loves in loathing—with a special bonus chapter!
Under One Roof - An environmental engineer discovers that scientists should never cohabitate when she finds herself stuck with the roommate from hell—a detestable big-oil lawyer who won’t leave the thermostat alone.
Stuck with You - A civil engineer and her nemesis take their rivalry—and love—to the next level when they get stuck in a New York elevator.
Below Zero - A NASA aerospace engineer's frozen heart melts as she lies injured and stranded at a remote Arctic research station and the only person willing to undertake the dangerous rescue mission is her longtime rival. (link)
Review: 4/5
I'll start off by saying the obvious: I liked this book. I thought it was super cute and a little cheesy. But I LOVED how for each Novella, there was a great sex scene. And I mean GREAT. I loved how the characters are tied together by being a group of best friends, but all of the partners were different personality wise. I also love the uniformity of the main characters of stem women and men who have fluffy hair, big muscles and are above six two. Imagining a tall guy with a good job and suit on NEVER hurts my opinion of a book (wait until I get into DIVINE RIVALS) .
Normally, I hate when series are all similar and have the same characters with different names, but I didn’t feel that way about the STEMinist novels… Maybe it’s because it’s my dream scenario? Maybe I want a strong, 6’5” man with a stable job and morals to protect me… Maybe. Definitely. I also LOVE “he falls first and harder” tropes… and the STEMinist novels are chock-full. Lucky me! Sticking to my niche, I suppose.
Let’s start with the first novella, Under One Roof. If you know me, you know I EAT UP some forced proximity! Oh no… they’re going to sleep together? And they live together? And she’s short and he’s like 10 feet tall? And he reaches things for her? Oh no… I’m spiraling again… I think out of the three novellas, I liked this one the best simply because of forced proximity and a tall, dark, and handsome man… and they have really cute domestic fights like the thermostat setting? I’m melting! Literally!
For the second one, Stuck With You… you guessed it, another forced proximity! I liked it, but I’m just not into Thor type guys, big and buff and blonde. I mean I made do but imagining Chris Hemsworth, but that’s the only way I pushed through. Ugh, I’m so resilient, brave, and strong! I liked the idea of them already having been together and there being a miscommunication, but HE WANTS TO WORK IT OUT? Ugh, do I just crave a healthy relationship where my partner wants to talk problems out with me? Probably. Definitely.
The last novella, Below Zero was fine. I don’t adore when main characters are stupid and blinded by their potential success, so they almost die (literally). So I didn’t love the whole “man coming to the rescue” thing, but I can’t completely knock it since I have a savior complex. It was alright! I also love some hot red-head man representation! I feel like redheads are so often overlooked but so beautiful! So ace on the hotness, not the plot(ness). THAT WAS SO GOOD? DID YOU SEE MY CREATIVITY SHINE?
I don’t have much to say about these books because they are the exact same plot spacing as the other STEMinist novels, and they simply hit well for me. I haven't liked a series like this since I was in middle school, so this is big!
This playlist is the same as the other STEMinist novels, so I hope you liked it! I mean, when the characters and plots are essentially the same, there’s only so much I can pull out of myself… Enjoy!
