Hello, readers of all ages, sizes, and backgrounds!

I know this may take some of you by surprise, but here I am, reopening my blog for the MASSES!! megaphone squeaks and crickets sound Just because I stopped publishing here, doesn’t mean I stopped reading OR writing reviews. So, that’s extremely lucky for you! The past few months have been a hectic whirlwind of focusing on my relationships (intra- and inter-personal), travelling, jumping head-first into my career, and trying to prioritize myself.

But, through the busiest times of my life, I missed writing and getting my thoughts out to the (very little) viewers of this blog! So I’m beyond excited to “be back” and get my thoughts out in writing.

With this new chapter of my journey comes a rebrand for the blog - not entirely different but improved… just like me.

I hope you enjoy this new era just as much as I am. New blog posts will start back up next Tuesday. Enjoy, and have a great week in the meantime!

2024 year in review

Books

This year, I set a goal for myself to read 35 books, and I SMASHED it by reading 42 books! I started this year with Divine Rivals, my newest favorite series, which happens to be fantasy. By some crazy coincidence, I finished the year by reading a different fantasy that happened to be my (new) least favorite fantasy series; Assistant to the Villain. Is that cyclical? Is it a sign?

My shortest book read was The Grownup by Gillian Anderson; a 64 page short thriller. The longest book I read was a classic and personal favorite: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - which clocks in at 734 pages. My average book length this year was 337 pages, and my average book rating was 3.6/5. The first book I reviewed this year was The Hunger Games trilogy, how nostalgic and culturally fitting!

This year, I had a lot of time to read while I was on planes, trains, and automobiles while traveling, which really helped me to reach my goals. I also was in a state of constant change, so the escape of reading about a different world or someone else’s problems was extremely comforting for me this year. Yippee!

Music

This year, my music taste took a turn for the gay-er and clubbi-er…  I played over 3 thousand different songs this year. My most listened to song was Von Dutch by Charli XCX this year. My top five songs were Von Dutch (Charli XCX); Club Classics (Charli XCX); Red Wine Supernova (Chappell Roan); Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl (Chappell Roan); and B2B (Charli XCX). No comment.

I listened to 59k minutes, which I guess can be pretty average… It was a STEEP decline from my 200k minutes last year. I also listened to 1,444 different musical artists this year.

I bet you couldn’t guess my top artist!? Yeah, it was Charli XCX… You can say I’ve had a VERY BRAT year. My top artists this year were Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Hozier, Beyonce, and Clairo… It doesn’t get more bisexual than that, methinks!

Overall

As I continue to age (like most people, I assume) I continue to grow and learn. I did a lot this year: I moved across the world to live with people I didn’t previously know, I finished my degree and walked in commencement, I became great friends with new people, maintained relationships, tried a LOT of new experiences (some I liked, some I wouldn’t do again), I moved back home, and I started my first full-time position. I’m proud of myself, as I am of my circumstances, and I look forward to growing more. Yay 2024!
